A special robot purchased by the regional rehabilitation complex Orlyonok in Stavropol helps children learn to walk properly. This “locomotor therapy system” was acquired as part of the federal project “Improving the provision of rehabilitation and habilitation services for people with disabilities and disabled children.” The system is a latest-generation robotic orthopedic trainer designed to restore walking skills. The equipment simultaneously affects the musculoskeletal system and the central nervous system.
In 2024–2025, more than 70 children with cerebral palsy, the effects of traumatic brain and spinal injuries, and muscle atony successfully completed a course of rehabilitation using the locomotor therapy system. “For dozens of families, it is a real chance to give their child the opportunity to take their own, difficult but important step,” said Elena Mamontova, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Stavropol Territory.
